Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of lubricants can be applied with the MicroCoat system?

Virtually any metal stamping lubricant can be applied with the MC800 or MC781 system.

The only exceptions are lubricants that require constant agitation to stay in suspension and water-soluble lubricants that contain heavy concentration of animal fats. These lubricants tend to clog feed tubes and nozzle openings.

What’s the minimum/maximum stock width that can be coated with the MicroCoat system?

MC800 System - The MicroCoat MC800’s modular design can control up to eight MC785 valves.

Since one valve can coat stock from approximately ½” wide up to 6” wide, minimum stock width is ½” and maximum stock width is 48” (coated one side)or 24” (coated both sides.) Wider stock requires additional systems.

MC781 System - The MicroCoat MC781S is a single-valve system designed for pulsed rather than continuous application and/or thicker oils. One system will coat stock from approximately ½” wide up to 6” wide; wider stock will require additional systems.

Can I apply more than one lubricant with the MicroCoat system?

Yes. The MC800 system’s dual-manifold design allows you to apply one lubricant through the first manifold and a different lubricant or coating through the second manifold.

Note: Since each manifold can operate a maximum of four valves, the widest stock that can be coated with a two-lube/two-tank configuration is 24”.

Only one lubricant at a time can be applied with the MC781 system.

Will I use less lubricant?

Definitely – the MicroCoat system’s even, consistent application typically reduces lube usage 70% or more, while providing better tool protection.

Less lubricant also means less cleanup, fewer VOCs and fewer hazardous waste storage/disposal issues.
